Today's students are already familiar with AI and the many ways it has become part of everyday life. Still, mastering AI tools for business requires more than simply using them. It requires learning how to apply them effectively, ethically and strategically under the guidance of experts.
While the landscape is changing every day, the NIU College of Business has led the way in evolving curricula, degree programs and professional opportunities that allow students to gain the skills they need to be part of an AI-ready workforce.
AI education and hands-on AI learning have been incorporated into all our courses, and our faculty are challenged with keeping up on trends and uses, bringing the newest tools, coding and applications to their courses in real time. Our faculty members are at the leading edge of AI research, with our professors educating the masses about the societal effects of the complicated relationship between humans and chatbots, among other topics.
Each day, students are encouraged to learn to harness the power of AI in their coursework, to ask the prompts that get targeted results, and to analyze data in ways that will improve their work — all while learning the timeless foundational business building blocks that will guide their decisions in AI and beyond. Throughout the academic year, our college frequently hosts seminars, panels and professional guest speakers who bring trade secrets and hard-won, real-world AI tips and tricks to the table.
New tools bring new opportunities, and our Huskies bring natural intelligence, an eagerness to learn and lead, and an understanding of ethics and accountability to the companies that hire them. Again, our Huskies’ employers tell us the same thing — there is nothing artificial about our students’ skills.
